Hey NYS, are you ready? NYS Sexual Harassment Prevention Compliance

An important deadline for the New York State Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Act is quickly approaching.

All employers in New York State must provide sexual harassment prevention training to all of its employees by October 9th. This training must be repeated annually for all employees in the state. Note: NYC employers with 15+ employees must provide a training to new employees within 90 days from date of hire

The law requires all NYS employers to have adopted a formal sexual harassment prevention policy and complaint form and have shared it with all its employees effective October 9, 2018. In addition, provide a formal sexual harassment prevention training to all of its employees on an annual basis effective October 9, 2019.

There are two options for NYS employers.

Option 1: Do it yourself for free. You can meet all of the compliance measures of the NYS Sexual Prevention Training Act on your own. New York State provide to employers:

Materials are also provided in Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Italian, Polish, Russian, Benagli, and Haitian-Creole.

Option 2: Manage it yourself, but with some paid support. You know you can comply with the law by yourself, for free, using the State-issued materials, but just don't have the time to create or update your existing sexual harassment policy, compliant form or provide the interactive training that is required.

Mirkin Solutions can work with you to create fully-compliant policies and forms or review and update your existing policies. We also can provide your team with the required interactive training.

Next steps:

  1. We recommend first familiarizing yourself with the law, how it works and all of the free resources New York State has already made available to its employers.

  2. If you have any questions about the law, or would like help with any of the compliance measures (policy, complaint form, training, etc.) please contact us at info@mirkinsolutions.com
